Our Milestones program is a key aspect of our curriculum and is the basis for our class leveling system. In order to help you better understand the Milestones, we’ve answered a few common questions about the program below.
What is the Milestones program?
Milestones are foundational pole moves that will be taught and built upon in each class level. Milestones represent the core set of moves that we would like you to demonstrate proficiency in before leveling up. Each level includes 5-7 milestones that allow you to track your progress.
Why do we have a Milestones program?
Milestones help you determine the appropriate class level for your experience and help us create lesson plans that will challenge you to grow safely in your pole practice. We strongly recommend that you complete at least 5 milestones before progressing to the next level; for your safety and personal enjoyment, we recommend you to stay in a level until you have mastered 5+ milestones and are ready to build upon them.
Additionally, the Milestones can serve as motivation to nail that next move and give you a guided progression through your pole journey.
I’m a pole dancer with prior experience. How do I use the Milestones program?
Before signing up for your first class at Fly Together Fitness, you can use the Milestones to assess the best class for your experience level. Different studios divide classes in a variety of ways, so our Milestones will help you determine the best level for you.
Once you have started taking classes with us, you can track your progress using our Milestones cards. An instructor will initial each box at least one week after you first learn the movement. We strongly encourage that you complete each skill on both sides!
Do you teach moves besides Milestones?
Of course! Milestones are a small component of our curriculum but are what we consider foundational moves. Learning these moves will enable you to create combinations, learn transitions, and build strength. Our milestones program includes 5-7 moves per level that allow you to track your progress and are taught in combination with many other movements during class.
How do I get a Milestones card?
Milestones cards are available at the studio. Ask your instructor before or after class if you’re interested in starting a Milestones card. When you achieve a Milestone, an instructor will initial each box at least one week after you first learn the movement. We strongly encourage that you complete each skill on both sides!
